A world without color? How dull, lifeless, and sad it would be to live in such a place! Did you know that certain colors evoke certain feelings from humans? Ever think about the design inspiration for some of our most prominent skyscrapers? Help! Our future designers and architects need exposure!
My students are a group of talented, inquisitive young thinkers in a Newark, New Jersey public school that love to discover, learn, and share new ideas.
Many of my 7th and 8th grade students live in the inner city and come from low-income backgrounds where resources are quite limited. My students enjoy learning through art and design. Their exposure to such a fulfilling study usually begins and ends at school. I would like to provide my students with the most enriching opportunities to ensure they are receiving the quality education that they all deserve.
I have received an offer from a special teacher from an architect. scholar to come in and share a multi-session workshop on Experimental Color and Architecture with our students. In order for our students to participate they require sketchpads, drawing pencils, color wheels, math journals and other color and architectural supplies. Many of my students have expressed their appreciation and enjoyment for art-related programming at our school. Due to budget cuts our school has not been able to provide art programs, as we would have liked to this year. In the Experimental Color and Architecture workshop, students will identify color systems and color samples, will learn about color interactions, will create their own compositions of color and will design their own structures. Having access to the supplies that are needed to participate in this enriching and exciting new workshop would serve as great encouragement to explore the arts.
Help our students gain exposure, knowledge, and practice in the world of color systems and architecture.
Providing enriching courses such as these enable our children to build on their character, independent study, and creative talents. Supporting a cause that allows students to have access to the materials they need in order to receive a well-rounded education is a lasting investment that is inspiring to our students and to us.
