I teach at a wonderful middle school that has been recognized five times as a "school to watch." This is very remarkable since we live in a high-poverty area, and many of our students have difficulty finding support for musical enrichment outside of our classroom.
My students thrive in a student-centered learning environment where they can discover and learn by using our classroom tools and technology.
We have very little room in our classroom budget for anything but basic music needs and instrument repairs.
My Project
We recently started implementing Modern Band and Little Kids Rock curriculum in our music classes and ensembles. This gives our students hands-on music training using modern music and instruments like guitars, ukuleles, and drums. Our kids love it and they are so excited to be learning and performing.
We need a new electric guitar to use with our modern band rock ensemble and our jazz band.
A new electric guitar would be a huge motivator for our students! it would also add to our middle school jazz band and our vocal ensembles. I know our students will be lining up for the chance to play our new guitar!
