My Students
Our kids come from many different backgrounds in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood of Dallas. Their parents send them to our campus where we have a consistent waiting list to ensure that they are safe and get the education they deserve. Our kids are smart, funny, kind, and hard working. They come to me generally with very little interest in history or school in general. Often times they’ve seen little success on the state test, but when they come to me I help them develop the skills that they need not only for their test at the end, but historical knowledge that will help them be better citizens when they leave our school.
My Project
One of the best ways for students to learn is to be involved and hands on. I’ve seen success in years past by having my students do hands on projects and have recently found escape rooms through Breakout EDU. This activity would allow our students to work through historical problems and really exhibit their understanding in a hands on and exciting way. This will allow us to differentiate their learning for all levels of understanding and foster an environment of working together. This will help them to develop critical thinking skills as well as work with the content more to foster better understanding.
