Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our middle school is home to a diverse population of 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
Many of our students are immigrants from the South American region who are English language learners.
As a Title I school more than half of our students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch.
Each day we strive to provide our students with the social, emotional and academic growth they need to succeed. Our students love working side by side with their peers to create hands-on, engaging projects which offer them a chance to showcase their creative skills.
My Project
Throughout each school year students create a wide variety of hands on projects. In our Tech Engineering classes students use their engineering and creative skills to create projects such as bridge designs, Co2 cars, 3D printing and game design. Our Art classes produce many exciting projects such as pottery, sculptures, and wire frame designs.
Our students take great pride in their work but unfortunately, these creations often go unnoticed by most of our staff, families, and the local community because we have no place to showcase their work.
Our main lobby would be the perfect place to house these creations and engage our entire school community but a display case would be necessary to protect the projects from damage.
