Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach third grade and am also the lead teacher for my school's Green Team club in a Title I school in Anaheim, California. My school is located in a low socioeconomic area and much of our campus is entirely cement with very little greenery.
The surrounding neighborhood in which the majority of our students live consist of run down apartment buildings with little to no yards.
The Green Team would like to offer our students a green sanctuary on campus. It would be amazing if you could help support our Green Team club and school by providing the means to beautify our school grounds!
My Project
Students from kindergarten to sixth grades are a part of our school's Green Team. Unfortunately, we do not have the appropriate tools or supplies to really get our school garden going.
The majority of our school campus is cement and the Green Team would like to bring some greenery to our school.
We would like to create a small space for our students and teachers to enjoy nature in a peaceful setting. In order to create this space, we need some critical gardening supplies, such as soil, seeds, water cans, and gardening tools. Cultivating and caring for our school garden will not only give our students a place for escape, but also instills responsibility and teamwork.
