Help Our Scholars Paint On Canvas!
My students need the 150 stretched canvases to complete a study in painting.
Most of our students have never held a paintbrush. They have never completed an actual painting. They have yet to see how exhilarating painting can be, because for many art supplies are too expensive.
Our students are extremely vivacious and thirsty to experience new endeavors.
They attend a charter school where the budget remains always tight. Because much of the school's budget must be allocated to facilities use and personnel, discretionary expenses like art supplies are often unaccounted for. Every student that attends our school regardless of personal circumstance is actively seeking to try, touch, and reach for new things.
The 11" x 14" stretched canvases are of a dimension and quality that many scholars rarely have the opportunity to use. As their art teacher I am working to not only build their artistic skill but also a willingness to create and experience art outside of the classroom. We will use these canvases to create acrylic paintings of the Geometry and Mayan Cultures we have studied. This material has the opportunity to make this real for them.
This one canvas for each student will allow them to experience a technique, material, and process that is entirely new and exciting.
Our students work extremely hard and are overjoyed when creating art. Please help us serve our students and allow them the possibility to create.
