My Students

You might be reading this proposal wondering, math team? Indeed we do have a math team at our small middle school. This team is composed of 7th grade students who attend a class BEFORE school each day. The math team will participate in competitions this year and we need your help.

These kids are great.

They are here each morning before 7:30 ready to study Algebra and advanced math for middle school students. As a break from the regular routine, we practice for the team portion of the Charter School Math League once each week. The competition is fierce, we were once on top and we strive to get back there. These kids work hard, sacrifice time and enjoy the one subject so many of us dreaded growing up.

My Project

We are requesting dry erase boards and markers. The team round of the math league uses them and we think if we had them here we would be better prepared. A challenge question is displayed on a screen and the team has 3 minutes to work it out. At 3 minutes the team displays their board with their solution. I would like to be able to simulate that process here in my classroom.

This proposal is important.

Math is important and it is imperative that we cultivate successful math students as they are so rare. I am always filled with joy when I look and see all of the wonderful proposals on Donorschoose.org. Thank you for supporting such great teachers who go out of their way to provide more for kids.
