My Students

Have you ever felt left out? We all have but it shouldn't happen every day in music class. As our music program and school grows our kids' opportunities suffer. I don't have enough instruments for everyone and our class sizes keep approaching 40 kids or more. We need more instruments.

Our students come from a high poverty rural area where opportunities are scarce.

More than 90% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. Sometimes the only chance they get to experience amazing things in life is through the school. They deserve every opportunity we can get them and they deserve to play music in the classroom.

My Project

I'm requesting two xylophones for class so that more students can play. This will allow four more students at a time to participate and means less groups will have to wait their turn or even miss out because we ran out of time. It isn't much but every little bit helps when it comes to getting students involved.

This project is important to me because I have worked very hard to find the materials and instruments to make our music program a success.

We continue to reach towards our goal and improve. Nevertheless, as we do this our classes also grow in size and I can't accommodate the number of students in each class. They deserve to be involved as much as possible. To teach music well I'll need more instruments for the students.
