My Students

I love that my students are unique with a specific set of needs. Our school is a small, public alternative behavioral school. Our students have not been successful in the traditional school setting.

At our school, students are all identified Special Education and their needs include a small, highly structured environment in which staff are trained to deal with challenging behaviors.

I love that the students at our school benefit from a cohesive school program that addresses behaviors and academics.

My Project

Our students require a small, structured environment in order to be successful. At this time, our school is in an office building, which does not include the flexible seating and fidget toys our students need. I have requested these items for our kids, as our students are diagnosed Emotionally Disturbed, Other Health Impaired and Learning Disabled. They require frequent movement breaks, which is why the alternative seating is so important for them. It allows for their movement break to happen within the classroom so they don't lose out on learning.

In addition to movement breaks, our students often require "fidget toys" in order to focus and process.

Many of our students would benefit from the use of fidget toys while processing behaviors with our guidance counselors.

Last, I have requested the Breakout EDU box because I think it is an amazing tool to use with the at-risk learners we have at our behavioral school. The breakout box can be used across all content areas to engage our students.
