My students are a very energetic and empathetic group of 4th graders, who love to learn. They love to get very involved with what they study. Many times they amaze me with what they know and the things they discover.
Supplies that help entice and encourage learning are always welcome gifts.
My students are enthusiastic learners and tend to go above and beyond when exploring new ideas and with help from others, no one knows how far they will go.
My Project
A pandemic has hit the state of California! Many have fallen ill and many have no way to protect themselves. Our neighboring class is on a field trip and are stranded at the Malibu Creek Park. They have no supplies and no way to keep the pandemic at bay. My students decided to take their survival into their own hands They knew that one of our student's parents was a pilot, so they decided they would make survival packages and air drop them from a plane. Unfortunately they didn't know exactly how to accomplish this feat.
Real life situations take real life knowledge and application.
Luckily this situation isn't real, but what better way to solve this problem then by having students practice with an Engineering Aid Drop Package Kit. This kit will not only entice our students to create something useful, it can also be used across the curriculum. Creative stories can be written, math can be used in calculations and measurement, science can be used when studying gravity and acceleration, and in history students can study how air drops were used during military operations.
