My Project

At MES, we want to encourage the love of reading by allowing students to choose books for their own home libraries!

What better way to give our students access to high-quality books and ignite their love for reading than with a trip to a new book vending machine?

At our school, we work every day to prepare all students for a bright future- that future begins with success in reading!

Located in the heart of upstate South Carolina, our school is made up of nearly 1,000 students in pre-K through 5th grade. We serve a diverse student population whose differences are bridged by a shared enthusiasm for learning and growing together.

As a Leader in Me Lighthouse school, our students create personal goals across subject areas and work towards achieving those goals throughout the year. Our vision is for students to be able to visit the vending machine and pick out a book of their very own as a reward for reaching their goals in reading. The rewards this machine will offer are twofold; we are helping students build home libraries and develop excitement around an essential love of reading.
