Help Our Competitive Dance Team Stay Hydrated & In Uniform!
My students need the mesh training shorts and water bottles to facilitate effective training and encourage proper hydration during our summer camp, a season full of rehearsals and performances.
I teach dance full time in a performing arts charter school near Tampa, FL. My dance team students are extremely committed to our program and they enjoy the positive outlet the team provides them. Our team competes at the National level and consistently is ranked in the top 10 for over 6 years now. Our team is comprised of males and females who are dedicated and talented in a multitude of dance styles.
This year my students have really been affected by Hurricane Irma.
Specifically, some students and their parents had to replace the contents of their refrigerators/freezers, this is especially hard for kids of large families who typically buy in bulk. Families were affected by the high cost of evacuation, boarding up of their homes and the impact is still lingering for them. This leads me to why I am asking for help, our team is struggling.
My Project
Our team is entirely self-funded and our dancers work tirelessly to earn the funds necessary for our team to compete at the National level year after year. It is our hope that the donations from this project will afford our athletes the ability to spend a little more time focusing on their training and dancing versus fundraising.
With the help of DonorsChoose.org, we hope to acquire a set of water bottles for our entire team as well as uniform training shorts for our rookie student-athletes.
As with most competitive sports and dance teams, we adhere to a uniform policy to help with team unity, camaraderie, discipline, and synchronization. We aim to promote healthy nutrition choices, and having the water bottles to encourage our dancers to stay hydrated will help us in these efforts.
