My students are second graders from San Francisco, California. My classroom is a place of challenge and discovery. A place where students problem-solve with their peers, practice kindness, and appreciate diversity. My students love working with each other to help bring understanding to the curriculum as well as to the world around them.
I watch my students grow on a daily basis.
Their diversity, determination, and love of school inspire me to be the best teacher I can possibly be.
My students are second graders from San Francisco, California. Nearly all of my students are native San Franciscans, and many have not had experiences outside of the busy city.
Literature is a way for students to access these experiences.
Quality texts help students make sense of the world. They can also help students escape momentarily to wonder, dream, and ultimately expand their capacity for critical thinking.
Mentor texts are a critical component of elementary learning. These books will help students become better readers, writers, thinkers, and dreamers. These books will help me build a conducive learning environment for my students, and will help me create and facilitate relatable, engaging curriculum for my students.
