Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school in East San Jose. A majority of my students are first-generation Americans with hardworking immigrant parents. Seventy percent of the students at my school are receiving free or reduced-priced lunch.
I teach a wonderful group of Kindergarten students.
My students are hard-working and enthusiastic learners. They are easily motivated and enjoy attending school every day. They are always excited to try and learn new concepts. My students inspire me every day to be a better teacher.
My Project
Technology is an important part of teaching and learning. I try to incorporate technology in my teaching because it makes learning for my students more engaging and fun. One program that I use to help make learning fun is BrainPOP Jr. I use this program to teach many science, math and writing lessons. This program has many educational videos that simplifies concepts and make them kid friendly and easy to understand. For example, this week we learned about parts of a plant and their needs. BrainPOP Jr, has short educational videos that help teach these concepts. BrainPOP Jr. is essential to my students learning. Next year, because of budget cuts, we will no longer have this program as a teaching tool. Your donation to this project will continue to provide this wonderful program for my students.
