Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a high-poverty urban area, 100% of whom receive free lunch. Many of these students are below grade level in reading, writing, and/or math. We have a large population of English Language Learners, many who need to make vast gains in order to reach grade level in either English Language Arts or Mathematics, or in both.

As an interventionist, I get to know my students on a more personal, small-group level.

My students love their school, love their teachers and peers, and strive to make the necessary gains to reach academic and lifelong success.

My Project

By funding this project, our students will have the opportunity to take home books overnight and on the weekends. It's essential that our students are reading for at least 30 minutes each night, and we needs high-interest books to keep these growing minds entertained. Our school library lacks the tools that we need, and many students do not utilize their public library.

The best way for our students to improve as readers and scholars is to READ, and the best way to read is to make sure we ENJOY what we are reading!

By helping us out, we will have the resources that we need.
