This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a safe haven, a place where kids can work toward a common goal. Our students need somewhere safe to be, a place off of the tough, local streets. Kids at our school learn commitment, teamwork, and pride as well as academic skills.
I am the 4-12 grade chorus teacher as well as the assistant marching band director.
I also work with the beginning band students in grades four through six. Our students are vibrant and love to be the center of attention. All of the students in our school receive free breakfast and lunch, and there are after school activities that serve extra meals so kids don't go hungry.
However, our budget is non-existent. Our building is old and hasn't been updated much since it was originally built in the early 1900s. Sounds like a great place for modern learners, right?
My Project
My students really took a liking to 3D printing. Things that they never imagined possible, they were able to create. The learning curve is steep on 3D printing, but once my students understood the theory behind it, they really took off and wanted to create.
However, creating and continuing to 3D print means that I need to have a large supply of filament.
Printing larger items can take a significant amount of time and printing material. This replacement filament will allow my students to continue to create amazing designs and see their projects brought to life.
