I am blessed to teach third grade at a wonderful Title I school in northeast North Carolina. Our students are loving, hard working, easily motivated, and care about each other and their success! They thrive on competitions and reaching goals set for them throughout the school year.
Our students get excited, work harder and stay more engaged when they are given options and choices which makes them feel valued and that their interests matter!
We are a diverse school consisting of students and families from various backgrounds and cultures as well as Coast Guard families. They are each unique and have a special way of winning our hearts with their kindness and thoughtfulness. The students and staff at our elementary school has truly become a family to one another!
My Project
Research shows that allowing students the ability to move while they are learning helps them to be better listeners and stay more engaged! An active mind cannot exist in an inactive body~George S Patton.
These wobble stools and portable lap desks will provide an opportunity for more of my students to choose a seating option that will allow them to move and fidget during instruction to get out some energy without disrupting their classmates!
Flexible seating, like wobble stools, works for all types of learners from the shy student, the overachiever, and also the ADHD student. Wobble stools will allow students that need to move frequently the opportunity to get that much needed stimulation from movement without interrupting their peers. The lap desks will allow students to move to different locations in our room to work during workstations, with a partner or independently!
These NeoRok wobble stools and lap desks will not only allow my students to move while they work, but will promote better posture and build core muscle strength. These stools will ensure students are able to be active throughout the day without giving up important instructional time. Thank you so much for considering our project!
