Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our warm dogs will help warm up students who come in with thin jackets or hoodies in the wintertime. Students with severe social-emotional needs will be able to utilize emotion bears to help them express their feelings and during group counseling, students will interact with the walk in my shoes map to relay their life to those who may not understand l. Finally, students will be able to take a social-emotional break and use the sensory pod to self-reflect and soothe for a small time away. They have been through tough times but they show up every day they have hard days but they do not give up. They look for ways to make the best of their situation and they keep climbing. They are huggers and helpers. They desire to be good but just need words of affirmation to let them know they matter! By supplying them with a calming corner they will learn how to use self-control and take control over their feelings and not be controlled by them.
