We are a low income school with excellent students, many of whom come from difficult neighborhoods, yet very supportive families who want to see their children succeed. Most of the students have aspirations of college. We are more than a school, staff and students we are a supportive family.
My students are hard working kids and love any opportunity to explore or learn something new.
They are wonderful, kind-hearted, kids and teens and love to help or give to others, even though they may not have much themselves.
Introducing hard working and dedicated junior high students to performing arts in the form of color guard/winter guard. Students have been giving up their free time at lunch to learn basics of flag work. Hoping to add additional flags, as we are short and those we are using are used and beginning to look worn. We currently have a single rifle and would like to add more as many students would like to learn how to spin and perform with rifles.
Color guard helps build characteristics and skills such as confidence, discipline and teamwork, which will benefit students throughout the rest of their lives.
Color guard develops life long friendships and can be a place where even the students who feel they don't fit in can find a place to belong
