Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students who come to our school find a school that embraces their differences in many aspects of life, from their various needs in learning to their diverse social and emotional needs. Our students come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and living in a border city they are often faced with navigating the different cultures, feelings, and beliefs of our communities. They are smart, funny, and have a lot to say.
I teach at a school that serves a diverse student population, both culturally and socioeconomically.
My Project
Many of my students come from homes that are dealing with financial hardships. My school is great about making sure students have what they need but this years budget cut is making that harder. As a teacher, I can never tell a student no and often find myself shopping for needed items. That can be difficult this year. The materials I have selected: highlighters, pencils, glue sticks, and post-its will help meet the needs of my students.
Please consider helping ease their financial burden when it comes to school supplies, so they can focus on learning.
As we have problems with airflow in the classroom, the two fans will help ensure that students are comfortable during the hot months while we dive deep into writing and reading.
