I have 19 fun and energetic kindergarten students in my classroom. These boys and girls are eager to learn and make my job so exciting. I look forward to seeing their little faces each morning and look forward to watching them blossom and grow throughout the year.
This group of students has already formed a special bond with each other.
They are a very loving and caring group. It feels like a little family and each child seems to genuinely care for each other. I am very pleased with the atmosphere of our classroom and the respect they show one to another.
My Project
The carpet is the focal point of a kindergarten classroom. A very big percentage of learning takes place on the carpet. We begin our day on our carpet with Morning Meetings. We do calendar and counting on the carpet too.
The children feel comfortable on the carpet with their own personal space to sit.
During story time and instruction time they have their own space to sit and be within their boundaries. Having this specific area to sit allows students to be able to become more focused on the teacher while reading or giving instructions. Students are taught to stay within their personal space and keep their hands and feet to themselves.
I have been in my classroom for 9 years now with same carpet and it was in the room many years before I came to the school. The carpet is dingy and stained and needs to be replaced. I do not have enough funds to buy one on my own or would have already done it. No matter how many times you vacuum or shampoo the carpet it never looks clean. My students deserve to learn in a clean environment and I want to give them this opportunity. Please consider helping me give them this awesome gift!!!
