Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach kindergarten in the biggest school district in Ohio. For the past several years, my classroom has not only been the first time for school for students but their first experience in the United States and with English. Last year, I had five languages in my classroom and only three of my students spoke English at home. These headphones help my students on English websites and with their reading and math assessments that are read to them on the computer.

It is a privilege to be the first teacher to refugees and immigrants.

I want to be a positive experience not only for the children who have me but for their parents as well. I can't wait to be the first room they remember as school! I hope to provide a safe, clean, beautiful learning environment and, with your donation, you provide a tool to help them succeed in school.

My Project

I teach Kindergarten in the city. I have 28 students and, for the past three years on average, only three of my students come to my room speaking English. I spend lots of time being fun, dramatic, and helping kids learn everything they are supposed to know for a successful school year. This NWEA MAP test is given three times a year and, at this point in my career, appears to be the test that matters, so being able to hear the questions read aloud is important. These headphones will rock their world! Please help them reach their academic milestones with quality headphones.
