Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are second and third graders in East Harlem developing a love for reading. We have done exciting things like video chat our favorite author, Adam Rubin. To keep the momentum up, we are trying to bring engaging and exciting means of literacy to our school. My students have dealt with a great deal of obstacles and deserve opportunities and excitement, and this is a great way to tie it into their already budding love for reading! Thank you!
My Project
My students come from low income households and have minimal access to extra tools and materials. iPads in the classroom will allow us to introduce our students to research skills, educational applications, typing, and multimedia project creation. Our students deserve a way to expand their learning and thinking skills so that they are best prepared for the rigor in higher grades. The ways in which an iPad can enrich education are truly endless, from movie-making to "Mathletics", to Google Translate, having technology in the classroom will not only enrich our learning but truly grow our students and their skill sets.
