This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have an amazing group of students ranging from kindergarten to third grade. Some of them spend most of their school day with me, while others are able to be part of a general education classroom. While they all have diverse learning needs, one thing that they all have in common is a desire to learn and to take that learning and develop it into something that can help the school community as a whole. Even on my worst days my students are able to bring a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. Their level of determination and commitment to excellence is not only inspiring, but humbling. My students don't have much materialistically, but their presence will be felt for years to come.
My Project
I am requesting hygiene items such as deodorant which unfortunately, can be a luxury to high poverty areas. I am also asking for support to provide my students with warm weather wear to get them to school safely.
Students in low income areas have enough to worry about.
They shouldn't have to worry about peers noticing if they are wearing the same shirt all week or if they are going to get made fun of because they don't have access to deodorant.
Many of my students walk to school so warm weather wear is vital and your support can help make education possible.
