Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently teach four different classes to six different class periods, grades 7, 9, 10, 11, and 12.
Keeping my room organized and clean is a large undertaking, especially with such large classes.
California is facing unprecedented budget cuts, especially in education. Our school is in a poor neighborhood. Many of my students have parents who did not complete high school or even middle school. Our students face many challenges, including gangs, violence, and poverty. I am amazed by my students' perseverance and resilience and I want to help them any way I can.
My Project
My students need supplies to better access class materials, such as Crayola markers, construction paper, stamp pads, ink refills, and ceiling hooks.
Students will use these materials to access project-based learning and allow students who do not have supplies to complete larger projects and group assignments.
My plan is it will help my many ESL students, who struggle daily with understanding the 7th and 10th grade history, more easy access to the learning content.
The gift of these supplies (markers, construction paper, stamp ink refills, and ceiling hooks to display work) will have a huge impact on my students' ability to complete their project-based assignments easily by accessing supplies. My students need to feel that they have all the supplies they need without having to buy them all. Thank you for helping them!
