Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Many of my students love to talk about books! They tell me often that they don’t get many chances to discuss novels at home so it’s nice to come to class and read. I am really grateful to be able to teach students who have an avid interest in reading! They are keen to learn as much as possible about who they are, other people and their experiences and life. I would love to be able to provide them with as many books to read as possible! I teach a wide spectrum of students from various backgrounds. I really want them to love reading and be able to pick up a book, regardless of their background or learning ability. Many of my students are gifted, but don’t necessarily have the means to read books that they enjoy.

My Project

My students love to read. It has been my personal challenge this year to develop my classroom library with a wide variety of books. I have used any stipend that school has given me, donations, and trips to Good Will to try and source as many interesting books as possible.

I would love to provide some FUN and interesting books for my students to help them BLOOM into avid readers.

I have purposely chosen books that would appeal to all interests. I would love to help my students this SPRING by providing them with a fresh new selection of books and to keep them motivated as we approach the end of the academic year.
