Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from very low-income families, so they really don't get to experience a lot in life. Our school is a Title I school, but our teachers wouldn't want to teach anywhere else.
My students are really great kids who want to excel and become great leaders and people.
It's a great thing that they can see themselves out of the situation they are in and into a much better one. They strive to do well and try so very hard to do a great job.
I have had the option to go to other schools and to teach with friends of mine, but these kiddos just fill my heart with joy, and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else, even when I have the option to work with students that are not within the limits that these students are.
My Project
These students are trying to hard to fund some field trips that they want to go on! We have a Cricut that they have been using to create their own designs. Now we just need the vinyl and a heat press to make the items.
This will benefit the students by helping them learn how buying and selling things help others.
We have been trying to stress to our students that they need to realize that things don't just show up at their houses. Their parents need to work in order to get money to buy those things.
My students have been using the Cricut to make designs for the vinyl to put on t-shirts or pencil pouches. Then they are going to sell them so that they can use the profit to help keep the cost down for the field trips they want to go on.
