I facilitate thinking, I engage minds, I listen to questions, I encourage risk, I support struggle, I cultivate dreams, I learn everyday, I teach. I want my students to succeed and to be able to read. I don't want them to struggle now or in the future. If we help them now, they will succeed.
We have a very diverse culture and there are over 19 different languages spoken by our families.
Approximately 41% of the schools families participate in the National Lunch Program. The school supports cultural awareness on a daily basis through it's diverse literature selections and school activities.
My Project
At the current time my classroom does not have technology available to the students except for one day a week. In order to have the students that are below grade level participate at least 30 minutes a day on a research prove, technology based literacy program, we need chrome books in our classroom. With the chrome books and daily use of a literacy program, students will be able to improve their reading and as a teacher I will be able to track their performance and plan differentiated instruction according to the student data.
Students will be able to access programs such as Lexia Core 5 and RAZ kids. Both programs assist in improving their reading and literacy skills.
Donations toward my project will help my students improve their reading skills.
It is very difficult having half of my class below a 5th grade reading level. With the technology and also my small group instruction, they will be able to improve their reading levels this year. It is so critical that our future generation is able to read. Without literacy skills they will not be able to hold jobs or support themselves. Now is the time to donate so that our future generation succeeds!
