My students need a comfortable spot to take a break in when frustrated/upset/overwhelmed! Bean bags and weighted lap pads will help them refocus so they can access their education.

My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep learning engaging and provide them with the means to make choices within their learning environment so they are better able to focus and take charge of their own learning.
It's important for students, especially at the beginning of the school year, to feel comfortable/safe/appreciated in their surroundings.
I feel that a safe, calm, quiet spot will be of great benefit to all my students.
My Project
My students come to my classroom when feeling angry, frustrated, and/or upset. I would like to create an area where they can relax enough to be able to eventually head back to their classroom to access their education. I'd like to get two comfortable bean bags where they can cool down in. They also would benefit from weighted lap pads.
Many of my students have difficulty regulating their emotions, and the bean bags and weighted lap pads will help them calm more quickly.
I've been working on this for three years, and I have a feeling this is the year that I'll be able to set up a relaxing corner of my room for the students.
We all like to feel comfortable when our feelings are taking over. Please help my students feel comfortable in my classroom by helping me get them a couple of bean bags and some weighted lap pads. THANK YOU!
