Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our student body is huge. Amidst all the hustle and bustle and huge crowds, I'm lucky to have incredible students.
My students are clever, innovative, and funny - they have a unique tenacity that will take them places - with your support.
I primarily work with freshmen and teach them in a unique Freshman Seminar class. In a way, I am more than a teacher to them. I'm a counselor and guide to high school, teaching academic and life skills every day. I truly care for them and it is a joy to work with them each day.
My Project
Hi there! At my school, us teachers live off of our carts. This new cart (my old one is literally falling to pieces: currently it is completely crooked - if you set a pencil on one end it will roll off the other!) will allow me to bring materials to my several classrooms. Some years I'm in 4 classrooms over 5 periods of teaching! A new, sturdy cart will allow me to lug my projector, supplies for the kiddos, assignments, and textbooks from classroom to classroom!
This cart is valuable because it carries all the resources and materials that my students might need in my classroom throughout the day.
The following are examples of how students will benefit from this cart:
1. Not all of our classrooms have projectors. Thus, the cart functions as a transporter for AV equipment. It will carrier a projector, laptop, and speakers in order to present lessons throughout the day. Whether we're engaging in taking notes during a lecture or viewing media but especially for student presentations, the cart is a necessity for class to proceed! In particular, we utilize Google Slides to provide visuals to accompany all classroom activities. This helps visual learners or students that value return understand exactly what is happening in a class period.
2. The cart carries supplies that students can borrow or take to use during the class period. Primarily, I provide students with the basics - pencils, pens, paper. These are transported on the cart from class to class. But, I also provide tape, copy paper, scissors, glue, and more!
3. The cart acts as storage for assignments new and old, as well as a place for students to turn in work. Students know exactly where on the cart to go to turn in or get work!
