I teach a general education kindergarten class that is comprised of students of all capabilities. Many of my students come from families who are new to the country; therefore, they are learning the English language. I also have some students who require special services. My students come from varied backgrounds with different economic needs.
I am excited that my boys and girls are reading and writing.
Many of them are reading at a second-grade level, and I am very proud of them for that. They come to school every day eager to learn.
My Project
In this day of age, children know how to use an iPad better than a pencil. As a teacher who wants all my students to succeed, I have decided to embrace this. Therefore, I plan on allowing my students to type up their written work and publish it. Because of this I am looking to obtain toner so they can do this. I feel that this will encourage them to do their best because they will want to see their work printed.
Research shows that kindergarten students learn best by playing, because of that I provide time in our daily schedule for the student to play both math and literacy based games.
Most of the games the children play are teacher made because I want them to reinforce what I am teaching in class therefore, I am requesting colored ink so that I can print these games out as well as laminating paper so they can be preserved.
