Help My Kids Read Where the Red Fern Grows!

My students need a classroom set of "Where the Red Fern Grows" so all students will have access to the book.

I teach at a very rural, but great, middle school in Alabama. In order to get my kids reading, I always read "Where the Red Fern Grows." They get into the story so much, it is really inspirational. The boys really relate to the hunting, and the girls just love, love the story.

There are many poor families in my district, and my school and community is a 20 minute drive from a retail store. Many kids' parents just tell them "no" about getting the book or that they don't have time to drive into 'town.' Other students are told they can't afford a $6 book, and this breaks my heart.

All I need for this to be a success is a classroom set of books. I average 33 students in a class, so 35 will be wonderful. This way, all students are guaranteed a book, and we can all read together.

Your help will not only inspire my students tor read, but it will also make reading interesting and fun to middle schoolers, and in the age of MySpace and text messaging, that is a miracle in and of itself! Thank you so much!
