Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In this classroom, the safety we have built makes it okay to make a mistake and share experiences. Over 86% of my students are eligible to receive free or reduced-price lunch and a high proportion of these students are economically disadvantaged. Some of them live in their cars or in hotels. I want my room to be a calming place. The overhead fluorescent lighting can cause eyestrain and headaches. I normally turn off the lights and use lamps. I wanted to offer something a bit more fun and colorful. These light covers are the perfect solution! In additions, the led light strands will add just enough ambient lighting to create a calm, relaxing place of learning.
My Project
The lighting in most schools is overhead fluorescent lights. These lights can be really intense and cause issues. With these light covers and ambient light strips, my class will be transformed into a calm, relaxing environment where kids can learn in a very comfortable setting. The blue tint will promote concentration and focus. They will offer just enough light so that the students can complete their work without harsh lighting. These covers and lights will go very well with my flexible seating. They are the missing piece to my student-centered classroom. These would really make a big difference in the lives of my students!
