Help My High-Poverty Primary Students Move to Music!
My students need resources to move and dance! I am requesting tons of world folk dance DVDs/CDs, brain dance DVDs/CDs, and creative movement CDs. Help us move, move, move!
My students love to move! And the music classroom is where preK-2 students have the opportunity to get out of their chairs and have some fun! My students are always looking for ways we can keep class interesting and get moving!
I serve an extremely high-needs community that is 100% free and reduced lunch.
They love to learn and I love to help them become great citizens as well as excellent musicians. Please consider helping us be a move movement-oriented classroom.
My Project
My students LOVE dancing! We know some folk dances, but they always want more! And they are always asking for more classroom percussion instruments! So I am requesting 3 different resources: the first is a DVD and CD set of folk dancing from around the world. This will increase our folk dance repertoire by 30-50 new dances! I am also requesting some durable, flat, Sound Shape drums that we can use to move and play music to around the room. Finally, I am requesting some music for creative movement. We do a LOT of creative movement to music in my music classroom.
These materials will allow my preK-2 students to continue to use my music classroom as a place to explore creative movement and learn new folk dances from all around the world!
I am excited to add all of these dances to our repertoire, and to explore the new concept of brain dancing, which was created by a primary/elementary dance expert to help students get in touch with their bodies and stimulate their minds.
