Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Technology is moving at lightning speed! I am so excited at the thought of providing an iPad2 for my students to use in their learning as well as provide a taste of technology that is all around them.
Many of my students live in an inner-city.
Our school is a Title I school with at least 80% of the students receiving free or reduced lunch. Many of them are reluctant readers. It is my hope that providing technology and a more interesting way to engage my students in reading and math will motivate them to continue practicing these skills.
My Project
An iPad2 will be a fantastic and exciting resource for every child in my class. Students can use the iPad2 to practice their reading skills, listen to an audio book, reinforce language skills and challenge themselves with enrichment games. They can also watch educational videos, play math and language arts games, and listen to music.
In addition, I would like the students to be able to use the iPad2 to conduct research and enhance class projects. Education has become a data driven world. The iPad2 will also be used to record and monitor student progress. This is so vital to ensure that I, along with my students have access to their progress.
Giving my students access to this technology will help them become one step closer to our state goal of being college bound.
Not only will the iPad2 aid in their everyday learning, but it will give my students a taste of what's out in the "real world". I hope to teach my students to dream big! Using this technology will open doors and show them they can have a future in Math, Science, engineering or anything else this world has to offer.
