Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are second through fifth grade special education students in an urban public school. Their ability levels vary widely which makes it even more important that I have a wide variety and range of materials and activities for my students. I teach special education students with various disabilities, and many are ESL (English as a Second Language) speaking students in a full English classroom. Many of my students come from homes where their families speak little to no English. I try to provide my special education students with fun, engaging and hands-on activities to keep them excited and motivated to learn.
My Project
All of my students come from low-income households. Many of them are faced many challenges in the classroom and at home and are unable to bring class supplies. We are currently down to our last box of kleenex :( I am hoping to provide the students in my classroom with kleenex, hand sanitizer, lysol wipes and paper towels. By providing my students with these supplies I am hoping that they will not have to worry about if they are able to use a kleenex to blow their nose or hand sanitizer after they sneeze. The lysol wipes and paper towels will help to keep our class clean and germ free :)
