Help me give my students books to read for our classroom library so they are able to read on their own outside of school and without having to buy the books themselves.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager to learn and have persevered through many obstacles that city children face just to be in school.
Every day my students come to class with smiles on their faces despite the outside challenging lives many of them experience.
The breakdown of students at my Title I school is as follows: Asian: 5%, Black: 28%, Hispanic: 61%, White: 3%, English Language Learners: 7%, Student with Special Needs: 19%. Approximately 92% of my students receive free lunch. My students commute from Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island to come to school each day; sometimes their trips are longer than an hour. Although my students face many adversities, they are dedicated to their education and their academics. I want to do as much as I can to help make sure they are successful and happy while they are in the school building.
My Project
Reading is a way for my students to escape from their reality.
It is my goal to build up a classroom library so my students are able to borrow and take books home to read on their long commutes and during their free time.
Students have different reading levels, so I am trying to create a library with a variety of reading levels and interests. Reading is a critical attribute of a lifelong learner.
The idea of reading for fun or reading for passion is foreign to many students when the only reading they know is the reading the teacher assigns. I want to provide an opportunity for my students to read for fun!
