This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My Creative Learners currently have a rug that is not large enough for the whole class to sit on. Help us have a more productive time during whole group instruction by giving everyone the space they need to learn safely in their own personal space.

My kindergarten students are low income students with a multicultural background.

They attend a newly opened art-integrated charter school that aims to educate the whole child through project-based learning and an arts-integrated approach. Many parents have chosen to send their children to our school because their assigned school has either closed, is currently failing, or at risk of failing in the eyes of the state. Our school will provide students with the unique opportunity to come to a school outside of their neighborhood and be enriched with the arts and 21st century thinking skills.

My Project

My Creative Learners would benefit from a new rug that everyone could sit on at the same time. We currently all sit on the cold floor around the rug during circle time, whole group instruction, and story time. Our new rug will provide a comfortable learning space, and will help establish personal boundaries by having a place for each Creative Learner to sit.

A new rug will help my Creative Learners learn so much more effectively!

Sitting together is a big part of Kindergarten, and we really need your help to let us learn in Kindergarten in a safe, comfortable way.
