My students need books that will foster their love of reading. Each item has been thoroughly researched to ensure it matches my students interests. For example, many books in my cart reflect my students Latino heritage.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a diverse school in the heart of San Francisco. Our school caters to students from underprivileged neighborhoods and under represented communities. The best time of our week is when we get to read.
My students are bright, hilarious, and hungry for literature in which they can see themselves.
All they want is to read novels that illuminate their struggles, triumphs, and backgrounds. This year our school is focused on increasing students reading skills, and most importantly their love of reading.
My Project
The resources I chose for this project reflect my students' diverse interests and needs. In my classroom (and school-wide) we are focused on increasing student literacy. A huge part of this is providing books that students actually WANT to read.
Each book I have requested is popular with young adults, and even more importantly, reflects the interests of my diverse students.
Supporting this project means that my students have more opportunities to make meaning of the world and their own experiences through reading. Help my students foster their love of reading. A good book can change a life and inspire the next generation.
