This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work for a wonderful school in an Indianapolis Township. We are a low-income, high needs school with students who have had difficult upbringings. They deserve the best education possible!

I am in my first year of teaching - with big dreams for my students and want to do everything I can to help them be successful.

I am so excited to make math and science exciting for these students who often hate my subjects because they can be difficult to understand.

My Project

My students work hard every day. Some of them come in and have dealt with a lot of hard things already - even by 7:30 in the morning. Sometimes, they are fidgety or easily distracted.

The flexible seating options and headphones will help the students stay more focused on their work.

The flexible seating will allow them to have access to more than just a normal chair and desk. The headphones will allow them to block out distracting noise, focus on their lesson and digital content, and be more successful.

Some students have been able to provide their own headphones and some students are fine sitting in their normal seats. However, several are not - and all of my students deserve the same shot at success.
