Our kindergarten classroom is made up of twelve of the sweetest, funniest and most intelligent students in Eastern Kentucky. I teach in one of the most economically depressed and poverty stricken areas in the United States. I love my home, but there are many obstacles that my students must overcome to be able to thrive on a daily basis. I feel lucky to be their teacher, and I wish I could give them ALL the resources in my classroom I feel they deserve.
We have TONS of fun in kindergarten.
There is never a dull moment in our classroom, we are always trying new things! We enjoy small group, as well as differentiated instruction time that includes a mix of hands-on learning through play, experimentation, STEM activities and student centered learning stations.
My students love when we use technology within our classroom and they view it as a fun and interesting way to learn new things, from learning to read to adding and subtracting numbers. Little minds needs many different teaching and learning strategies and I try to incorporate many different resources as possible. We never have a "boring" day!
My Project
In a world where technology is everything, it is no surprise that we also need technology in the classroom! Mrs. Hall's kindergarten strives to be a 21st century classroom where we differentiate instruction to meet the needs of EACH and every student. A huge way we do this is with technology. We need Chromebooks that turn into touchscreen tablets in our stations, so we can incorporate individual technology based lessons into each and every day.
Students would benefit so much from being able to use applications on the tablet that would provide tactile learning.
Star-fall, ABC and Reflex Math allow me to progress monitor my students and assign them online lessons. Students who need RTI could also benefit from the use of the tablets and would be able to use a variety of YouTube activities, and educational websites to help get them on grade level.
