My Students

My students are so much fun! They are bright, enthusiastic, technologically savvy, motivated to achieve their goals, and inspirational to me. I teach Theater Arts and AVID students. My AVID students, in particular, are almost all working toward becoming the first people in their families to go to college. They want to become doctors, physicists, architects, teachers and more.

My students are going to build the future, and I want to help them.

These teens are waking up early for our zero-period class every day. We begin at 7:00 a.m., before the sun is even up most of the year, because we know that in order to change the world, you have to get started before everyone else does. It is not often easy to motivate a room full of half-awake adolescents, but these kids are game-changers, and they know they have to do the hard things in order to make their dreams happen.

My Project

My students are working toward their goals of attending and graduating from four-year universities. In order to support them in achieving their dreams, I want to make Chromebook technology available to them as we study, research, and learn in class. Many students have access to technology at home, but there is a large number of kids who do not.

My goal is to give all of my students equal access to opportunities that will help them succeed in school and in the real world.

Having a 1:1 ratio of Chromebooks in my classroom will allow students to research colleges and careers, work collaboratively with their peers on the Google Drive, develop and improve writing/communication skills. Technology engages students. I want to use technology to bring the real world into my classroom.
