I teach at a Title I school where my students are smart, motivated, energetic, and love learning. Our school may not have access to many resources and materials, my students are always engaged, excited, and eager to learn, especially when it comes to using technology in the classroom.

Despite the lack of materials and resources, we have 100% dedication, motivation, and determination, to be successful. I love learning new things that I can use in my classroom that will help keep my students engaged and make learning FUN.
My Project
I am very excited to announce that I was accepted into the Pathfinders Summer Institute 2018 at the University of Indiana. This professional development will allow me to integrate computer science and computational thinking into my mathematics instruction. I will be bringing back instructional strategies and supports for academically diverse learners, including those at risk for academic failure, students with disabilities, and English language learners. I will have the opportunity to explore integrated elementary mathematics and computer science and computational thinking activities and lessons. I will have access to a set of program links to teaching resources for integrated mathematics at the K-5 level.
This opportunity will allow me to see new possibilities for my students.
I will be implementing technology in my mathematics instruction daily. This Summer Institute will teach me how to keep my students engaged during mathematics and have FUN while learning. In addition to the strategies, programs, and other activities, I will be introduced and trained to utilize Scratch programming, a block-based programming language for young people.
