The students at our school are from a rural area with suburban areas located 20-30 miles away. Our community has faced many plants, factories and businesses that have shut down due to the consolidation of businesses and the lack of actual business. With this it makes it difficult for students to purchase school supplies and adds to the burden of spending on the teachers. Our school is a free/reduced lunch school in which 100% of the population currently receives free lunch due to a grant. If the school did not have this grant over 50% would qualify for free or reduce lunch. The students in my class should be able to have a quality education without the worry of not having the correct supplies needed for class.
In my classroom, we are currently using 3 new Chromebooks and 28 laptops in which I have converted to Chromebooks. This Google Pixelbook will allow us to use Chrome, and not the current Windows computer that is the main computer. This Google Pixelbook will allow me to be able to convert my classroom fully into the digital world, which will still allow for some hybrid assignments. The kids love being able to do bell work and assignments on their computers. The Google Pixelbook has extremely fast capabilities and a larger screen. This would be helpful for my students to be able to create elaborate assignments and allow them to use something that is faster and more capable to finish such projects. This larger screen would also be helpful for students who may have vision problems and may require a larger keyboard to type on. This will allow the students to use state of the art technology and meet the demands of the technology world.
