Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently teach Science and Social Studies to 112 very enthusiastic and energetic 5th grade students. My students come from various academic, social and economical backgrounds. I also teach ESOL students and students with disabilities. Having a wide range of students can make the day very interesting and entertaining. It can also be very challenging.
We love to do interactive, hands-on Science labs and create plays and act out our Social Studies lessons.
Having students who work at different paces and at different levels allows for a lot of collaborative learning and team work among the kids.
My Project
I am on my tenth year teaching and would love to attend Teach Your Heart Out so I can keep my passion for teaching alive. A lot has changed in the education field over the years and attending this conference will help me stay on top of my game.
I know there is more to teaching then just district curriculum and this conference will show me how to use new strategies and ideas to create a learning environment conducive to ALL of my diverse students and their individual needs.
I hope to bring back new and exciting strategies and lesson ideas to my students and future students to come.
