This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students all live in a rural mostly agricultural area in the delta. Families struggle to meet basic needs so I am hoping to enrich their environment by exposing them to as much technology as I can.
Their future depends on them having a basic understanding of the ever changing technology that runs our world.
Even if some of my students choose o stay in this area, agricultural technology is growing by leaps and bounds. I feel obligated to give them exposure.
My Project
I have used Lego WeDo 2.0 kits with my students and they love building and programming them. The SPIKE robot is the next natural progression for the age group that I serve.
My students love using technology and it also builds teamwork, fine motor skills, and problem solving.
I have seen so much personal growth from my students by using robotics.
I plan is to introduce the SPIKE robot system to the students as they progress in their abilities. I can see many of them pursuing a career in the coding, programming, and robotics field because they master concepts so easily.
