This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All of my students have the learning difference of dyslexia. As their dyslexia therapist, I not only teach students skills to help them with reading and spelling, but I really try to strengthen their confidence to become language scientists. Through the books on the list, I also want to help them see their strengths and interests in the books that are donated.
With your help, my students will see characters in several books with learning differences and struggles that they too may encounter.
I want to give them opportunities to see ways they can be strong, successful, and thrive!
Some of the books included, the book series Ninja Hacks, which teaches students about self-awareness in a fun and entertaining way. Hank Zipzer is a book series in which students can follow the main character along with his adventures tackling his struggles. Other encouraging books on the list are Dyslexia Brains are Beautiful Brains: Beautifully Unique, Beautifully Perfect, Beautifully You, and so many more!
My students have to conquer so much on a daily basis. These books will teach my students about dyslexia as well as show them examples of perseverance, dedication, and the courage to try. I want to show them how dyslexia can have many positives and can be used in a very beneficial, world-changing way!
