This year has been like no other before it, the last time my kids were in school for the full year was 1st grade, meaning we had to learn how to do school.
In 4th grade, a year where they normally don't have to learn the basics of school, we have spent a lot of time working on line basics and working with people. Also things like what to do "when I'm mad at someone." At home, depending on the family, it might be ok to hit but, that isn't ok at school.
Learning the basics of how to do school on top of the rigorous 4th grade curriculum is a lot for anyone to handle. I want to celebrate the big steps we have taken in our Social Emotional growth by doing one last huge team project . . . .the egg drop. This will test how much they have grown socially because there will be a lot of compromise and discussion in this project.
