When students experience challenges in their lives it makes it difficult to focus at school! My students are from a low-income high-poverty community. They are either from a single parent, foster, or homeless situation or living on a single income. The range of disabilities includes Aautism, ADHD and learning disabilities.
Despite of their disabilities, they are very motivated and excited to learn.
Our school is a Title I school receiving 100% free lunch, serving African American and Latino students. We strive to prepare our students to be college and career ready and one way is to teach them about taking charge of their own learning. Whatever challenges their home and community bring, the school will still be a safe haven for them.
My Project
The TPT resources like dyslexic worksheets, Fry Sight words and Reading Intervention Bundle will make a big difference in my students because this will help them get individualized instruction in reading. This will help close the gap and help them meet grade level standards in reading. This will help them improve their confidence in reading.
Explicit reading intervention will help my students meet their goals and grade level standards in reading!
My students have learning disabilities and they struggle to read, using these resources they will have ample opportunities to master the skills needed to be better in reading. They are so motivated to learn and I know that if there is a will, there is way! I believe they can, if we give them the necessary resources!
