Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the reason I get up in the morning with a smile on my face; I am excited to work with them every day. They motivate me to be a better teacher. Throughout the year, I want to help them as much as I possibly can by bringing math to life and providing them with new opportunities.
I want to provide the best learning environment I possibly can, where students look forward to going to class every day and are sad to leave at the end of the class period.
I teach at a Title I school, meaning the majority of my students are economically disadvantaged. Even with the hardships they go through my students have the biggest hearts in the world. They are always wanting to help each other and even provide a lending hand to adults around the school. I am extremely blessed to work with the students that I do.
My Project
Right now, we are going through something that we have not experienced in our lifetime where it is safer to stay at home and when you leave your house then you need to wear a mask and stay proactive.
This project is to help alleviate my parents' stress of having to worry about getting school supplies this summer, as many of them are currently out of jobs currently.
In my math class, I use the composition books for interactive notebooks and it helps keep the majority of my students organized since they can go back to one tool and have their notes for the year. I use tape, in my class, to secure the notes in their journals.
The scissors and tape dispensers will allow me to have a clean and used bucket as I see teachers having to sanitize school supplies after they have been used by a student. The expo markers and dry erase erasers are the same, have a certain supply on hand to help keep a clean supply.
The folders will be used to store the students' tests in, so they can keep track of their skills for the year.
Many of my students do not come to my class with needed supplies, including pencils, the sharpened pencils will save time at the beginning of class. The pencil eraser tops are something my students enjoy having access to throughout the year as they quickly use their pencil erasers.
